Release: 11/03/2025
We are deeply shocked by the extent of destruction caused by the recent fire at a neighbouring property adjacent to Eskmills. It is with sadness that we note the damage to an iconic Musselburgh building, which historically served as one of the entrances to the fishing net mill on which our business destination is now situated.
We our supporting our neighbour, the emergency services, East Lothian Council, and our community, as we work together to address the situation and manage the aftermath of this crisis.
Nicole Pyper, Head of Growth, stated, "During this ongoing situation, we are happy to support those who need to be at Eskmills in the coming days. We are offering spaces for meetings and for work, and access to our toilet and coffee facilities. We are in continuous communication with our resident businesses and organisations, please contact us should you have any Eskmills related queries."
Efforts are underway to minimise disruption within our community and to ensure our business critical functions can continue. Most of our offices remain fully open, although access to Fearless Gym, Summers House, Drying House, and Old Stables is restricted due to the police cordon. We understand that temporary access along Station Road for vehicle removal from our car parks is currently available, this is however a fluid situation which is subject to changing circumstances.
East Lothian Council has confirmed there is no significant risk to the public, but urges the public to avoid the area cordoned off around site while safety measures are enforced.
Further updates are expected in the coming days, please keep an eye out on our socials for the most up to date information.
Eskmills is East Lothian’s largest business destination, offering office, restaurant and leisure space and home to a community of over 100 resident organisations.
